The City of Glens Falls, in partnership with the Glens Falls City School District will host the first “Ride, Stride & Drive Safety Night” — a free, family-fun event on Friday, October 10 at 6 p.m. at Glens Falls High School before the 7 p.m. kickoff of the varsity football game in which the undefeated Glens Falls Black Bears face off against Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk.The event will highlight current and future improvements to sidewalks, traffic flow, and pedestrian and bicycle access around Glens Falls High School and Middle School. Families are invited to arrive early for the home football game to enjoy fun activities including:

WHERE: Entrance to Putt LaMay Field at Glens Falls High School, 10 Quade Street, Glens Falls, NY 12801
WHEN: Friday, October 10 at 6:00 p.m.
WHY: The Glens Falls City School District is a walking district, meaning it does not provide daily busing to and from school for most students. A 2024 report by the Adirondack/Glens Falls Transportation Council identified several opportunities to improve pedestrian and traffic safety around the schools. In response, the City of Glens Falls and the school district have implemented many of those recommendations and are continuing to make progress — including adding new sidewalks, adjusting traffic patterns, installing accessible bike racks, partnering with CDTA to provide transportation options for students who live farther away, and introducing staggered start and dismissal times for the Middle and High Schools. This event is meant to engage parents and the community to share the progress that has been made this year and the future plans for improvement.
