It might be his Strictly Vinyl debut but DJY is certainly no newbie to the decks and also no stranger to our decks. He's one of our oldest turntable partners tracing back to the days of CAMA and CAMA ATK and he's flying in from HCMC to bring you an evening of deep house. All on vinyl. Strictly Vinyl.
DJY’s artistic genesis emerged amidst the musical milieu of the 1980s: an era dominated by onslaughts of iconic Alternative and New Wave sounds. Although Pop Culture hungered for the likes of Madonna, The Cure, and Duran Duran, a burgeoning innovative musical movement surfaced, altering our musical topography, and DJY’s life forever. Simply put: House Music was born.
House became young Jean-Yves’ new religion. Spending every cent on LP’s & EP’s, the meeting that would change JY’s life, between the then 14 year old boy and the turntable, was all but
inevitable. Against the backdrop of the 80’s Rave Revolution, DJY found his calling. A fateful holiday in Ibiza in 1995 marked the beginning of DJY’s artistic journey. Once he began spinning vinyl’s, everything fell into place: the crowd swarmed, pumped by the beats; creative energy flowed from his fingertips; and he began to craft his unique signature sound – a distinctive mix of Deep sounds with a focus on musical progression.
