The Strictly Jazz Series, a joint presentation by Crosstown Arts and Strictly Jazz Entertainment, celebrates classic jazz music through contemporary interpretations by acclaimed musicians.
Michael Brecker was a highly influential American jazz saxophonist and composer. He was known for his technical brilliance, soulful playing, and ability to seamlessly blend jazz and pop elements. Brecker's contributions to both jazz and pop music have solidified his place as one of the most important musicians of his generation and one of, if not the most important saxophonists post John Coltrane that the world has ever known.
Asked about the musical selections for the February 15th outing, Larson says he will pull from some of his favorite Brecker recordings with special consideration to Brecker’s album “The Nearness of You: The Ballad Book”, timely for the Valentine’s Day holiday.
