Join us for February’s installment of Strictly Jazz Entertainment’s “Strictly Jazz” Series as Memphis-based vocalist D’Monet presents the music of Carmen McRae!D’Monet is a singer/songwriter, arranger and vocal coach from Memphis, TN. Originally classically trained to study opera, the skills she acquired from her Alma Mater and HBCU LeMoyne Owen College allowed her to branch out across several genres as a feature on numerous stages, musical sets, and news stations.
She soaks inspiration from artists such as Anita Baker, Oleta Adams, Rachelle Ferrell, Luther Vandross, Stevie Wonder, Lalah Hathaway, and Mint Condition, just to name a few.
The music D’Monet writes, she calls “Alkaline Music” – music that heals. Her intention is to connect with her audience, giving them the space to heal, laugh, enjoy themselves and be free in that moment. She writes music based on real life experiences, with a little mix of creativity in her songs.
