Street Scenes in Pen and Wash (Watercolour)

Introducing all the basic techniques, this workshop is ideal for those wishing to sketch with simple tools.

Using a theme of street scenes as our source, we will use a pen and wash combination to pick out details and capture mood in a surprisingly simple way. If you are at all hesitant with your drawing skills this workshop is ideal for you, as we will be introduced to a variety of marks, patterns and lines with our pen first, before going on to find ways to use these in our painting. To warm up we start with a pre-printed outline and will spend time adding interest by filling in areas with our patterns, then go on to add watercolours. You will be able to choose your own palette so very quickly everybody’s work will be individual. Pen and wash is the perfect hybrid medium for both intricate details and large areas of colour, and you will enjoy sharing ideas with the group, and you will take home at least one completed work by the end of the session. Suitable for all abilities and with all materials provided.
