About this Event
Lilienthal Gallery is pleased to present the grand opening of our exhibition STREET and Knox Walls mural alley.
FIRST FRIDAY OCTOBER 4, 5–9 PM
This event is free and open to the public.
Street art is considered to be one of the largest art movements in modern times. It became very popular as an ongoing, fast-growing global form of art. From sprayed graffiti to monumental painted murals covering entire buildings, it appeared in urban areas and public locations. Site-specific ‘exhibitions’ continue to dominate trends in the art world.
Knox Walls is an immersive art destination in North Knoxville featuring thirteen large-scale, permanent murals by prominent artists from across the country. The new project, a joint venture between Dogwood Arts, Visit Knoxville, and Lilienthal Gallery, brings internationally-renowned, award-winning artists to leave their mark on the City of Knoxville.
The Knox Walls project gave Lilienthal Gallery the opportunity to exhibit works by renowned street artists and muralists, based in the US and working globally. STREET presents key figures of the genre, like pioneering women artists Swoon, Lady Pink, and Aiko, as well as the Knox Walls muralists like Juan Manuel Rozas, who helped create Wynwood Walls Miami, to Don Rimx, The Obanoth, and local muralist Megan Lingerfelt.
Key figures in the street art movement include:
| AIKO | DOZE GREEN | LADY PINK | SWOON | PICHIAVO | QUEEN ANDREA|
Knox Walls artists include:
| Arcy | Cole Eisenhour | Curtis Glover | Detour | Don Rimx | Gared Luquet | Juan Manuel Rozas | Megan Lingerfelt | Naomi Haverland | Orel Brodt | Pat Perry | Rachel Wolf-Goldsmith | The Obanoth|
