Meet scientist, Sierra Miller, learn about her work as a bioinformaticist, and do a hands-on strawberry DNA isolation procedure.This is a drop off workshop for ages 8-12.
What's a strawberry DNA isolation procedure?
We will start with a few strawberries. Then we will use common household supplies to isolate and extract DNA from the cells of the strawberries. Finally, we will make observation notes about the appearance and texture of the DNA we collect.
Maybe you would like to be a scientist some day, too? You'll have a chance to ask questions and learn from someone who is passionate about STEM outreach to young people.
