About this Event
Straw weaving is one of the oldest traditions in Ukraine and Europe. Usually, wheat straw is used for it. Wheat straw has good properties and is shrouded in the magical meanings of our ancestors.
Handmade goods were widespread, almost every house had them. It was straw dolls for kids, straw hat (bryl') and Christmas ornaments. Especially during the Christmas holidays, people made many straw elements to decorate the house. There was “Diduh”, “Pavuk”, wreath and decorated windows with straw ornaments.
During this workshop you will have the opportunity to learn and create your very own straw Angel, which for many centuries has been seen as the symbol of the guardian.
All materials and equipment will be provided.
