About this Event
Please note this event is for Strathclyde Staff and Students only
? Big Garden Birdwatch @ Strathclyde ?
Curious about wildlife, biodiversity, or just fancy spotting some birds between classes? Join the Green Office for a relaxed and hands-on session taking part in the RSPB Big Garden Birdwatch – the world’s largest garden wildlife survey.
We’ll start in Mandela Auditorium - level 1 of the union, where we’ll run through:
- A quick quiz on the bird species you’re most likely to see
- Simple tips on how to identify them
- How to record your sightings for the survey
Then we’ll head over to Rottenrow Gardens, right in the heart of Strathclyde’s campus, and work together to spot and count the birds that visit the space.
After our hour of observation, you’re welcome to use your new bird-ID skills to take part in the Big Garden Birdwatch anywhere over the weekend (23rd–25th January) with friends or family – totally optional, but a great excuse to keep going.
No experience or equipment needed – just wrap up warm, bring a bit of curiosity, and be ready to try something new. You don’t need to stay for the full hour either; drop in when you can and get involved.
