Strategy Master is a game-lover’s camp for kids who like to think ahead, spot patterns, and outsmart the board. We’ll learn and play chess alongside a rotating lineup of strategy favorites, from Othello and Blokus to Risk and plenty moremixing mostly hands-on, screen-free play with a few modern online strategy games. Campers will track progress on class scoreboards, compare tactics, and swap ideas in lively discussions about what makes a strategy game truly great: balance, choices, surprises, and skill. Expect friendly competition, teamwork, and lots of “wait… if you do that, then I’ll do this!” moments
What you'll learn
Strategic thinking and planning ahead (building a plan, adjusting mid-game, thinking in phases)
Anticipating opponents’ moves (prediction, counterplay, reading intent)
Pattern recognition (common tactics, openings, traps, and recurring board shapes)
Decision-making under constraints (choosing the best option with limited time/info)
Risk vs. reward judgment (when to play safe vs. when to gamble)
Resource management (pieces, territory, cards, tempo, positioning—depending on the game)
Spatial reasoning (fit, block, and control space—especially in games like Blokus)
Basic probability and uncertainty (odds, outcomes, tradeoffs—especially in games like Risk)
Problem-solving and adaptation (recovering from mistakes, changing strategy as the board evolves)
Sportsmanship and emotional control (handling wins/losses, resilience, staying calm)

Class Format
Our camps are divided into blocks with breaks. We focus learning in the morning while everyone is fresh and encourage experimentation and project work in the afternoon.
There are breaks mid morning and mid afternoon as well as lunch.
Suggested age range: 11-15
