About this Event

The Healthcare Technologies Institute brings together leading experts from a variety of disciplines across the University of Birmingham, including chemical engineering, engineering, biomedical science, computer science, applied mathematics, chemistry and physics. Researchers across campus are working collaboratively to speed up the translation of new discoveries into health applications.

We are based within the Institute of Translational Medicine (Old Queen Elizabeth Hospital) with 750 square foot of state-of-the-art laboratory space. Our facility has the following capabilities: wet chemistry, cell culture, microscopy, and a GMP lab. Our Operations team support the day-to-day running of the institute and can support the wider HTI community with expertise mapping for new academic staff, hosting HTI seminars for invited academics, facilitating high-profile visits and delegations to the HTI labs, integrating new research staff & students into the HTI community. The HTI can also support with maximising research impact by advising on clinical translation, we have academics within the team who have experience commercialising both within academia and industry who can provide advice on navigating the translational pathway.

We would like to strengthen links with academics working within the field of healthcare technology based within the School of Engineering at the University of Birmingham. We will hold a workshop in July that will support collaborations between the HTI and the School of Engineering and focus on building partnerships for future large-scale strategic bids.

We would like to provide the opportunity for academics to give a 3-minute talk summarising their expertise to help us shape session 2. If you are interested in giving a short talk, please select this ticket option within Eventbrite. The programme is below for reference:
