Back-of-the-class post-punks Stranger Gallery formed in the shadows and disintegration of 2020 for a series of outdoor shows. Veterans of the dark folk, shoegaze, and thrash scenes, the band demonstrates equally broad emotional and sonic spectrums, from twangy goth to blues punk, with ballads, sardonic litanies, and nods to artists like Steve Earle and The Chameleons. September 30th marks the release of their debut EP, Feign and Fawn.

Mr. Softheart is an American 3-piece from Des Moines/Cedar Falls, IA.

Formed in 2021 by brothers John and Nick Fisher, alongside their long-time creative partner Charlie Patterson, Mr. Softheart’s sound fits most closely within a post-punk ethos — albeit one that favors minimalism and intimacy over more conventional iterations of the genre.

This new project arrives on the heels of the trio’s previous group, Hex Girls, a 5-piece glam punk staple of Iowa’s most notable festivals, appearing at Hinterland Music Festival in 2021, 80/35 in 2018 and 2019, and Max Ames in 2019.

Mr. Softheart’s debut release, “Caravaggio”/”Flower of Tomorrow” was released on June 10, 2022. Critics described the double single as an impressive calling card and a striking new territory for the band, comparing the title track “Caravaggio” to the likes of Nick Cave and Talk Talk, and calling the b-side “Flower of Tomorrow” reminiscent of Peter Gabriel and Pink Floyd.

Mr. Softheart is currently recording new music, and a third single will follow in late summer.

RRA is the magical manifestation of musician Sara Nell Abdelaal. After burning basements and casting spells while playing synth and bass in the cult classic synth-pop empire that was CLAPS, Sara released her first solo EP Perfume of Love in 2016. While this EP was a clear continuation of CLAPS’ historical synth-pop references, it began RRA’s exploration into the intersections of international pop sounds. For RRA’s first new music in 5 years, we’re beyond excited to release their new pop language to all the weirdos out there.

HYPERKARMA — the DJ alias of Minneapolis’s Jennifer Waege — knows from dark music; finding sounds from the underground and making sense of dualities one mix at a time.
