Come celebrate National Silent Film Day at The Strand!The Strand will be participate by screening five (5) silent film shorts and the feature film, Safety Last! on September 29th. The schedule of events are below:
Silent film shorts begin at 3:00 PM accompanied by the following Strand organists:
3:00 PM - 3:30 PM Ken Double will perform Laurel and Hardy's, LIBERTY
3:30 PM - 4:00 PM Ron Carter performs Buster Keaton's ONE WEEK
4:00 PM - 4:30 PM Larry Davis plays Harold Lloyd's HIGH AND DIZZY
4:30 PM - 5:00 PM Eddie Hulsey plays Harold Lloyd's Billy Blazes and Barney Old-field's RACE FOR LIFE
5:00 PM - 5:30 PM John McCall plays Buster Keaton's THE PLAYHOUSE
Take a dinner break at a Marietta Square restaurant and then return to The Strand.
Evening festivities start back at 7 PM:
7:00 PM Organ pops pre-show with organist, Jay Mitchell
7:30 PM - 8:45 PM House organist, Ron Carter, will accompany the hilarious silent film, Saftey Last starring Harold Lloyd.
The film lasts for only 73 minutes as Harold climbs a 12 story building in downtown Los Angeles in 1923. It will have you on the edge of your seats!
This is a great comedy for all ages and the evening will end earlier for school age children.
Buy both the five (5) silent shorts and the feature film as a package for only $12 or just enjoy the five (5) short films for $5. If you can only join us for evening show, the feature film is $10. All films will be accompanied LIVE on the Strand's Might Allen Theatre Organ.
Come experience what audiences saw and heard in a beautifully restored 1935 Art Deco Theatre.
