Straight Up & Toasted at The Carnegie Club: Miles Davis Centennial
About this Event
THIS IS BIG! Join us on Monday, October 19 at 8pm at The Carnegie Club for a special Straight Up & Toasted event featuring live jazz, single malt scotch and fine cigars.
This month we're celebrating 100 years of Miles Davis with the Ferio Tego Milestones. It's a limited-edition cigar made with the Miles Davis Estate as part of the official Miles Davis Centennial. Michael Herklots, co-founder and blender of Ferio Tego, will be at the event, and so will members of the Miles Davis family.
Attendees will pair two Ferio Tego cigars alongside the Glenfiddich & Aston Martin Formula One™ Team 16 Year Old Limited Edition Release No. 2, and The Balvenie 12 Year Home Malted Barley. Two spectacularly complex single malts that will pair beautifully with the equally complex Milestones blend.

The Cigar: Ferio Tego Milestones
Michael Herklots studied drum set performance at Berklee, where he played in the Miles Davis Ensemble. He blended Milestones to capture what he admires most in Miles' work: "approachability, sophistication, structure, nuance, expression, restraint, and depth." It's a 6 x 50 toro handmade in Honduras at Agroindustrias. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed, the binder is Honduran, and the filler comes from Honduras, Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. Only 1,600 boxes were made. Each box has Miles' silhouette on the lid and a print of one of his original sketches.
Our Spirits Selections
Glenfiddich x Aston Martin Formula One 16 Release #2
This is the second yearly limited edition from Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman and the Aston Martin Formula One™ Team. It's finished in Port pipes, Oloroso sherry casks and wine casks, with a touch of Fino sherry. On the nose: biscuity cheesecake, maple syrup, caramelized ginger and toasted oak. On the palate it's silky and syrupy, with fruit salad and Chantilly cream, and the finish is smooth and stays sweet. 43% ABV.
The Balvenie 12 Year Home Malted Barley
The Balvenie is one of very few Scotch distilleries that still grows its own barley and turns it by hand on traditional malting floors. This 12 year old uses only that floor-malted barley. It's matured in American oak and finished in European oak sherry butts. Expect warm biscuit, green malt and orange peel, then toasted oats, honeyed toffee, raisins and figs. The finish is long and gently spiced. 47.5% ABV.
The Carnegie Club
One of the last places in New York where you can still mix Scotch and smoke. New York Magazine called it a space where “an air of vintage class pervades this sprawling midtown cigar bar.”
