DEZ ALANIZ (they/them) is an educator, librarian and zinester. Dez is the Director of the Presidio Research Center at the SB Trust for Historic Preservation. They have created and facilitated classes around zines, research justice, teaching with archives, and activist archives for academic and public audiences for over a decade.
The first hour (2 - 3 pm) will be a facilitated workshop (what are zines > and the history > and how to participate) and folks will make their own minizine, photocopy, and share with their workshop comrades and Chaucer's Books (optional).
Starting around 3 pm, the remainder of the workshop will be ideating and finishing zine pages for the community zine. Make a zine page from these themes/prompts for inclusion in the community zine: "What I love about books", "What I love about reading", "Why I love Chaucer's".
This is the last creative workshop in the Chaucer's Books celebratory season, folks that attended earlier Chaucer's workshops are invited to attend and continue working on their pieces (poetry, short story, comics).
Due to limited space, please only register for this event if you are committed to attending.
After registering, we will notify folks that have a space in the workshop and those that may be on the waiting list.
