Storytelling Night: James Bruchac, Linda McKenney and Beth Sabo Novik

The fourth Tuesday of every month is storytelling night at Caffe Lena. Tonight's show will feature some of the finest storytellers from around the Capital Region who often serve as the featured artists for these monthly open mics.

James Bruchac. Growing up in the Adirondack foothills and as the son of award-winning Abenaki author and storyteller Joseph Bruchac, James Bruchac found himself immersed in storytelling, Native culture and the natural world. It wasn’t long before James was spinning his own tales. For the past thirty years, he has shared stories at hundreds of venues across the country. James and other members of his family were featured on the PBS special Adirondack Storytellers (WMHT/PBS).

Linda McKenney is an historical reenactor, storyteller and writer. Her essays are published in The Apple Tree, Helen: A Literary Magazine, Silver Birch Press, 101 Word Short Stories and The Survivor’s Review. She also has an alter ego at Susanbanthony.live.

Beth Sabo Novik is the co-founder of the Jewish Storytelling Festival in Saratoga Springs and tells both personal Jewish stories and Jewish folk tales. Her warm and engaging style combined with compelling physical presence makes her stories come alive. Beth has a special ability to connect with her audience creating an event filled with both humor and learning. When she’s not telling stories she teaches workshops on stress and joy, and coaches people to let go of anxiety and fear.
