For music to truly connect with an audience, it needs more than great production. Music needs a story so people can connect with it.
About this Event

SUMMARY
How do you talk about your music in a way that makes people want to listen?

In this 3.5-hour hands-on workshop, designer and 310sessions co-producer Catherine Pérez Vega will guide artists through the process of turning their music and identity into a clear, memorable pitch.

Using storytelling and design-thinking techniques, participants will identify what makes their music unique, learn how to communicate it to different audiences, our audience are venues and labels to press and collaborators. She will encourage you to practice presenting their story both verbally and in writing.

Through practical exercises, live pitching, and peer feedback, each participant will leave with a working draft of their own pitch and tools to continue refining it.

Group of up to 7 participants, In-person, 3.5 hours workshop

Mesage from Catherine

Through 310sessions, I have learned that drafting an email that mentions who you are and your music genre sometimes just misses the mark. Your pitch should narrow what in you makes you a great performer, why you want to collaborate and what is unique about your music. Join us in our creative studio, a little gem in Lichtenberg, where we produce projects related to music, create strategies for artists and organise music-related events.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

For this workshop we will:
- Identify and shape a compelling story, and turn it into a concise pitch, one that helps varied audiences including venues, labels, press, and collaborators understand what is unique about your music to listen to it.

This workshop is a communication strategy session for newcomer artists designed to help you frame your work differently.

FORMAT

In-person, 3 hour 30 min workshop with theory and practical exercises. The workshop includes a 20 minute min break. The space is reserved for 7 participants to have an intimate and small group workshop to gain techniques on storytelling.

WORKSHOP GOALS

By the end of the session, participants will be able to:

1. Identify the core story behind their music. What makes it distinct and worth hearing about.

2. Structure a pitch with a clear narrative arc, avoiding facts or genre tags.

3. Adapt that story across formatsbooking emails,
We'll exercise with a 30-second pitch or an EPK (to decide as a group).

4. Practice and refine their pitch live, with group feedback.

5. Leave with a usable pitch draft ready for bookings and outreach.

WHAT PARTICIPANTS WILL LEARN FROM A DESIGNER'S PERSPECTIVE

· Framing first: pitch what the music does for the listener, not just what it is.

· Narrative arc: structure pitches with setup, tension and payoff.

· Audience-first communication: tailor the pitch to a booker, curator, or journalist.

· Hierarchy: know what to lead with and what to cut out.

· Elevator pitch discipline: say it in seconds without losing authenticity.

· Iteration: treat the pitch like a draft. Test it, get feedback, refine it.

MATERIALS PARTICIPANTS CAN BRING

· An existing bio, pitch, or electronic press kit (if you have one).

OUTCOME

Every participant should leave the room with a working draft of their own pitch. No ai, a thinking room of creatives to craft something unique that connects with others.
