A Live Radio Play Where Sound Becomes Story

Step into the golden age of radio, where static crackles, voices rise, and stories come alive in real time. This March, Storytellers Canvas invites you to Tales Through the Static—a one-night-only broadcast from an imagined 1930s radio station. Under the warm glow of Lark Studios, we’ll be recording an old-time radio show—complete with live storytellers, poets, musicians, and the unsung heroes of vintage sound: our foley artists.

Picture this: The “On Air” light flickers. A hush falls over the crowd. The needle drops. Voices fill the space—whispers of mystery, echoes of adventure, sonnets spun through static. Every footstep, every creaking door, every roll of distant thunder will be created live before your eyes, as our foley artists conjure entire worlds from found objects and forgotten sounds. And of course, no vintage radio hour is complete without corny commercials, dramatic twists, and a little moonlit magic.

Storytellers, poets, musicians, dreamers—this is your stage. Share your story, perform a poem, or bring a sound-infused act to life. Each performance (up to 7 minutes) will be woven into our night’s recording, later edited into a full vintage-style radio play. Sign-ups happen at the door—arrive early to grab your spot. Not performing? Just sit back, sip something warm, and become part of the live studio audience.

Channel the golden age of radio: Newsroom reporters, jazz crooners, silver-screen detectives, and stylish dames. Think suspenders, bow ties, silk dresses, and vintage flair—or just come as you are and step into the soundwaves of another time.
