Explore creativity & tech in a 4-session workshop series blending hands-on practice, ethics, and innovation in this pilot series!
About this Event

Are you an arts professional, an HE lecturer, or a student involved in creative work? Have you ever wanted to explore how technology can be used for creative purposes?

Storylab is a workshop series designed to create a collaborative space where students, academics, researchers, and artists can explore the intersections of technology, creativity, methodologies, ethics, and environmental impact. This program encouraging participants to critically engage with emerging technologies and their implications.

10 participants will engage in 4 full-day workshops on Saturdays from March 15-April 5. These workshops will provide hands-on practice with different technologies, fostering creative thinking while examining their ethical and environmental dimensions. Participants will be able to share their work during Theatre in the Mill's Untitled 2: City of Wonder showcase.


  • Workshop 1: March 15 - Introduction, baseline evaluation, and introduction to theory.
  • Workshop 2: March 22 - Beyond Stereo: Exploring Immersive Sound.
  • Workshop 3: March 29 - Mixed Reality: AR/VR and digital layers in the metaverse.
  • Workshop 4: April 5 - Interactive Experiences and Branching Narratives


Through this program, participants will:

  • Gain practical experience with a variety of platforms, software, and media.
  • Engage in critical conversations about the pros, cons, and ethical implications of emerging technologies.
  • Develop new skills in creative and technological practice.
  • Explore the environmental impact of digital projects.

For this pilot version of the programme we ask all participants to commit to attending all 4 sessions.
