ABOUT THE BOOK
In The Animals Come Out at Night, children will discover nocturnal animals and their sounds, habitats, and behaviors as they journey through an enchanting night in this nature walk of a book. Musical prose and detailed, moonlit illustrations create a magical atmosphere through fields, ponds, and woods.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Erin Gennow is an artist, illustrator, designer, and author with 19 years of professional experience. She has a BS in Film with an Art & Design minor from Grand Valley State University and a BFA in Illustration from the Academy of Art University. Erin works with a vast array of media including watercolor, gouache, oil, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop. Her fine art paintings sell to several private collectors. Past commercial clients include Disney, Pixar, Nick Jr., Paramount, Colorforms, University Games, Artistic Studios, and Gap.
She is the illustrator of the published children’s picture book Rhyme: A Pig in Politics, and the author and illustrator of the children's picture book The Animals Come Out at Night (Milliken Creek Publishing), which was a Clavis Publishing Key Colors 2022 Top Ten Finalist.
From the Clavis Key Colors Review Panel:
— “The illustrator plays with the wonderful glow of moonlight in a dark blue setting, creating a magical atmosphere, and the sound effects make the text sound like poetry.”
— “The beautiful color scheme turns each picture into a piece worth hanging on your wall.”
Her current projects include Erin E. Gennow Arts - a stationery and fine art print company - featuring her colorful award-winning watercolor artwork, and teaching watercolor workshops. Erin enjoys the brainstorming and development of new projects, collaborating with clients and teams, to create unique hand-painted artwork. Her work is often brightly colored, cheerful, and based on nature and interactions found in daily life. A native of Michigan, Erin now lives in Napa, CA, where the beauty of Northern California's natural world influences her work.
