Story Lab

Designed to spark curiosity and a love of stories, every session encourages children to explore, create, and connect through playful literacy experiences.
Each week we will use themes like oceans, dinosaurs, dragons, and mythology to explore and grow as readers. After a storytime and exploration we will work on a related craft together.

Each class ticket includes 20% off one children's book purchase on the day of the event. It's a great opportunity to take home a story connected to the day's theme and continue the fun at home or pick out a new favorite.

Class notes:

Our toddler and preschool classes are designed as shared caregiver-and-child experiences. Each session includes stories and hands-on creative activities inspired by books and our weekly themes.

Caregiver Participation Required

A parent, grandparent, nanny, or other caregiver must remain with their child for the duration of the class. These classes are not drop-off programs. Caregivers are encouraged to participate alongside their child, helping with projects, encouraging discussion, and supporting young learners as needed.

What to Expect

Activities may include:

• Listening to stories and participating in group discussions
• Singing, movement, and interactive play
• Sensory exploration
• Process art and simple crafts
• Cutting, gluing, coloring, painting, stamping, or other age-appropriate maker activities

Skill Level

No prior experience is needed. Activities are designed to support developing fine motor skills, including:

• Holding crayons, markers, paintbrushes, and other tools
• Tearing paper and manipulating materials
• Practicing scissor skills (when age-appropriate)
• Gluing, sorting, stacking, and creating
• Following simple directions and participating in group activities

Children are welcome to engage at their own pace. The focus is on exploration, creativity, and building confidence—not creating a perfect finished product.

Please Note

• Some activities may involve paint, glue, water, sensory materials, or other potentially messy supplies. Dress accordingly.
• Every child develops differently. Participation levels will vary, and that's perfectly okay.
• Siblings are welcome to browse the bookstore with another supervising adult but must have their own ticket to participate in class activities.
