Story Circle: Indigenous Tales Through Film and Storytelling

Join us at the Somerville Museum for a powerful and engaging program that brings Indigenous stories to life through film and spoken word. Designed for students in grades K–8, this program introduces young audiences to the rich cultural traditions, histories, and contemporary voices of Indigenous communities across North America.
Anna‑Celestrya Carr is a Red River Métis multidisciplinary artist, filmmaker, writer, dancer, and speaker originally from Manitoba, now based in Massachusetts.
Anna-Celestrya has crafted meaningful short films such as Dreamcatcher (2011)—a dramatic fantasy rooted in Indigenous mythology—and Tik-A-Lee-Kick (2012), which offers a candid, introspective look through the eyes of a young Indigenous woman encountering "Little People". Her more recent visual project, Wiigiwaam, follows an Indigenous artist and their family as they build a wigwam from non-traditional materials; it has been showcased at the Boston International Film Festival and named a finalist at the Wales International Film Festival, as well as at the Somerville Museum.
With a decade of cultural arts experience, Anna‑Celestrya now serves as the Historic Events Manager at the Somerville Museum, bringing her talents in storytelling, media, and public engagement to the local community.
