About the books:
The Stars are a Million Glittering Worlds by Gina Butson: Crippled by guilt, Thea escapes her old life. In Guatemala, she grows close to a charismatic couple, but tragedy strikes. Starting over in Hobart and in a new relationship bonded by grief, hidden truths in Thea’s past must be faced and forgiven in this globe-spanning debut contemporary novel.
The Pool by Hannah Tunnicliffe: An incident at a pool party in Melbourne changes the lives of everyone involved. Ten years later, life of the party Baz King - a key player from that fateful day - goes missing. Not everyone is sad about it. A biting domestic noir featuring multiple families and suspects.
About the chair and authors:
Gina Butson has worked as a lawyer and as an advisor in the public sector. She completed her MA in Creative Writing at the International Institute of Modern Letters (IIML) in 2023. Gina won the Salient Creative Writing competition and was Highly Commended in the Sargeson Prize in 2024. The Stars are a Million Glittering Worlds is her debut novel.

She is the co-creator of the Detective Stanley series published by UK publisher, Flying Eye Books. Her work has featured in the New York Times Book Review and she is the founder and host of the body acceptance podcast, Bod Almighty.
Caroline is an award-winning author, story coach, presenter, and manuscript assessor. Her memoir, Ripiro Beach, won the 2020 New Zealand Heritage Literary Award and her debut novel, Golden Days, launched in 2023.
