Honor Sickle Cell Awareness Month with us! ❤
In case you missed it in its first showing last year, or if you'd like to catch it again, this is an opportunity to view 'Stories of Strength', a special gallery show that consists of artwork made by individuals with Sickle Cell Disease, or SCD. Each individual who participated has a piece of art and a story dedicated to their work and their words. With every piece, the artists illustrate their resilience in a community filled with perseverance that shines even brighter than before.
Join us on Sunday, September 22nd from 3-6pm at How Bazar in downtown Gainesville to honor and celebrate the individual artworks made one by local quilters.
It is FREE to attend this event!
Street parking is available and there are parking garages nearby.
Sickle cell is a disease of the blood in which red blood cells are sickled, often described as “crescent moon shaped.” This sickling affects the blood’s ability to transport oxygen through the body, causing intense pain crises, with risk of organ damage or stroke. Sickle cell affects approximately 100,000 Americans, with thousands more warriors living throughout the world.
