Join us for a powerful evening that brings together clinicians, policymakers, community leaders, and patients to confront one of the most devastating—and preventable—crises in American healthcare: the intersection of diabetes, Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD), and the epidemic of avoidable amputations.

BLOODLINES, MISSISSIPPI directed by award-winning director Crystal Kayiza and produced by Grain Media.

BLOODLINES, MISSISSIPPI examines the intertwined histories of race, medicine, and family legacy in the American South. Through its story of fearless sacrifice, the film sheds light on the Black American Amputation Epidemic, uplifting how health care solutions that center care, equity, and evidence can dramatically improve health outcomes.

In this poignant film and the candid discussion following, hear from leaders on the frontlines fighting to end the Black American Amputation Epidemic and create a culture of equitable care.

Dr. Foluso Fakorede, featured in the film, will join an interdisciplinary discussion featuring media personalities, policymakers, patients, and advocates. They’ll explore how the alarming disparities in amputation rates among African Americans betray deeper inequities in our health care system—from medical bias to health care deserts and the lack of insurance coverage. Discussants will highlight innovative approaches to prevention and early intervention and the transformative role of storytelling in medical practice and policy. Join us for an evening of storytelling, dialogue, and collective action toward a more equitable future in healthcare.
