This is Armed Forces Day and a chance to share one of your family's stories with others. We will join forces with the New Writing Group to share and preserve our families' stories of D-Day (and, if time allows, other World War II events). We would like members and guests to bring in their family’s stories of D-Day or World War II. It can be a 5-, 10-, 15-minute story, or a brief written account to be distributed or passed around. Today’s genealogists have an opportunity to preserve the stories they’ve heard about that day so that our descendants can hear the stories. As we delve into our family histories, many of us trace the military endeavors of our ancestors. While some of these experiences are nearly lost to time and have left us a few records and fewer stories, some of us have heard first-hand the vividly-recounted stories told in our family of World War II and the D-Day invasion. The D-Day landing on the beaches of Normandy was one of the more significant events of World War II and played an important role in the demise of Nazy Germany. Come share and listen!
