Stories in the Street with Hashem McAdam

Join professional photographer and the man behind the Pushing Film YouTube channel, Hashem McAdam, as he shares his process for getting the most out of your street photography. Starting with a short tutorial, Hashem will then take the group on a local photowalk.

The session will begin with Hashem introducing himself and his background in street photograph, including what makes him keep coming back to it. From there, he'll share the philosophy that underpins his approach: staying present in the moment, focusing on enjoyment over perfection, and sharpening your power of observation to see the world a little differently.

Hashem will then explore how the right gear can support, rather than distract from, that experience. He'll explain how the Nikon Zf is designed to keep you off the screen and in control, with direct, tactile handling that lets you stay connected to the scene in front of you. He'll also walk through how film-inspired recipes can help you achieve a finished look straight out of camera, minimising or even eliminating the need for editing.

Rounding out the tutorial, Hashem will cover the basics of street photography etiquette alongside practical techniques to help you feel confident shooting in public, so that when you're on the photowalk, you're ready to focus on the moments.

From there, Hashem will lead the group on a curated outdoor route designed to make the most of the afternoon light, giving you the chance to put the day's lessons into action, shoot in real time, and capture moments you might otherwise have missed.

Please Note

A selection of Nikon Zf bodies and NIKKOR Z lenses will be available to try during the session, along with a Nikon representative on hand to answer your questions. If you'd like to borrow a camera for the session, please bring an SD card.
