Stories & Songs w/ Matthew Wojo, Amber Dawn, Katie Jones & Jason Ray
About this Event
Matt Wojo was born and raised in Daphne Alabama. As a former college athlete, most of his focus in high school and college was centered around baseball, however, music always remained steadily in the background. Music remained a side passion in the years following, but over the last couple of years the focus has shifted, spending more time playing live gigs around Mobile and Baldwin County and writing original music. Matt draws from a wide range of singer/songwriter musical influences from a variety of genres including soft rock, blues, country, etc. Leaning into his soulful vocals he hopes to create music that resonates with the audience.
A distinctly Gulf Coast attitude, earthy voice, and personal, yet ethereal lyrics collide to create a completely honest sound that she describes as art pop with a Southern edge. Amber Dawn began writing her own songs after a complex voice injury changed the trajectory of a 15 year career playing covers and, in later years, coaching voice. She has learned to embody the nuanced, darker qualities of her voice through an extensive, intentional recovery process and now describes the experience as vital to her artistry and personal evolution. She primarily performs solo, though she frequently enjoys collaborative projects, including her duo “embr” (alongside Emily Sholes Smith). Her experience as a creative co-director for a grassroots theatre company and a background in Positive Psychology with an emphasis on wellness for artists contribute to her strong collaborative skills and community-oriented mindset.
Katie Jones is a Mississippi-native singer-songwriter blending country, pop, and rock into a sound all her own. She has been performing across the Gulf Coast since 2014, earning a reputation for energetic live shows and relatable songwriting.Katie has had the opportunity to open for major artists such as Bailey Zimmerman, Miranda Lambert, and Bret Michaels. Rooted in her Southern upbringing and musical versatility, she continues to connect with audiences through authentic performances and genre-crossing music.
Jason Ray is a Mobile, Alabama native, a proud father of three, and a Marine Corps veteran whose musical journey began half a world away. While deployed in Iraq, Jason picked up the guitar—igniting a passion that he has spent the last 18 years refining. After hanging up his uniform, he decided to follow his passion full-time, enrolling as a music student at the University of Mobile. His passion is to provide musical therapy for veterans in recovery. Jason’s diverse musical roots allow him to seamlessly shift between classical, folk, and rock, while his faith keeps him grounded as a contemporary Christian musician at Cypress Shores Baptist Church.
