Enjoy a summer evening of STORIE featuring new prose work from Josh Allen, Ashley Hickson-Lovence, So Mayer & Jackson Rees.


Josh Allen is a writer, journalist & contemporary historian based in Birmingham. He has written for publications including: The Observer, New Statesman, London Review of Books Blog, Source magazine, Red Pepper, Apollo magazine, Recessed.Space & The New Internationalist alongside all manner of regional, specialist publications. Since 2021 he has produced the Walk Midlands website & newsletter, publishing a new day walk each week somewhere in the Midlands region doable without a car.


Ashley Hickson-Lovence is a novelist, university lecturer & former school teacher with a PhD in Creative Writing from the University of East Anglia. Ashley’s debut novel 'The 392' was published by OWN IT! in 2019. His second novel ‘Your Show’, published by Faber in 2022, was longlisted for the Gordon Burn Prize & shortlisted for the East Anglian Book Awards. His third book ‘Wild East’, a young adult novel-in-verse, was published by Penguin in 2024. He is currently editing his latest novel ‘About to Fall Apart’ & his debut poetry collection ‘Why I am Not a Bus Driver’. He grew up in London but now lives in Norwich @AHicksonLovence


So Mayer is a writer, bookseller, organiser & film curator, currently based in London, UK. Their first collection of short stories 'Truth and Dare' is out now from Cipher Press. They write poetry, fiction, essays on film and culture, and creative non-fiction, often at the same time and in a single piece. They can be found selling books at Burley Fisher Books (Best Independent Bookstore, London, 2020 and 2021)


Jackson Rees is a writer & visual artist. As a writer he has been selected for the Royal Court’s Introduction to Playwriting Group, Faber Academy, & currently has a short film in production with 4814 Films. As an artist his work has exhibited at Christies, The Royal Drawing School & been an artist in residence at the International Institute of Fine Arts, India.
