Stop 'Tommy Robinson' - Transport from Portsmouth

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon aka 'Tommy Robinson' has called a demonstration at Downing Street on 26 October. Stand Up to Racism has called a counter-demonstration, backed by the Trade Union Congress.

Robinson’s last London demonstration on 27 July attracted over 20,000 people, and celebrated the breakthrough of racist Reform UK in the British general election where Nigel Farage and another 4 far right MPs entered parliament for the first time.

The week following that demonstration saw the outbreak of racist riots in Southport that spread across much of the country and saw attacks on mosques, asylum seeker accommodation and on Muslims and Black people on the street.

Robinson was at the centre of the online misinformation that fueled this outbreak of racist violence. He is a dangerous figure attempting to build a violent fascist street movement.

We can stop the slide to the far right in Britain if we commit to anti-racist and anti-fascist struggle. This starts with resolving to outnumber Robinson’s demo on 26 October.

UNISON is the biggest public sector trade union in the country, and is celebrating 2024 as the Year of the LGBT+ worker. It is affiliated to Stand Up To Racism, the biggest mass campaign against racism in the UK.

Portsmouth City UNISON is providing transport from Portsmouth to London and back, so that union members, friends and supporters, can attend.

Join us on the streets to tell 'Tommy Robinson', Lawrence Fox and their fascist, racist and bigoted followers that they are not welcome in London or anywhere in our communities.

Because of the support from trade unions, transport to the demo from Portsmouth will be just £5 for students and anyone who is unwaged, £10 for anyone low paid and for trade union members, and £20 for higher paid and non-union workers. Choose whichever ticket is right for you - you will NOT be asked to provide any proof of your circumstances.

The coach will pick up at the following times and locations:

8.30am - Queen Street bus stop, PO1 3HW - westbound bus stop at 45-50 Queen Street

8.35am - Students' Union Bus Stop (opposite The Union), PO1 2EF

8.45am - Fratton Bridge Bus Stop, Fratton Road (outside Efes Kebabs), PO1 5AB

8.55am - Trafalgar School Bus Stop, London Road, PO2 9RJ

9.00am - Cosham Health Centre Bus Stop, Northern Road, PO6 3AB

The coach will leave London by 4.30pm, to be back in Portsmouth no later than 8.00pm.
