We are offering a NEW training opportunity for you and/or your employees called “Stop The Bleed”. This class will be presented by ThedaCare’s Injury Prevention & Outreach Coordinator Sara Milanowski.
Traumatic bleeding is the leading cause of preventable death. A person can “bleed out” in as little at 2 to 5 minutes while waiting for professional help. Because there’s often “not a lot of time” in an emergency, the person standing right next to the victim is the only one who realistically save that person’s life.
Emergencies don’t just happen on the bar floor; they can strike anywhere from a high-pressure kitchen to your own backyard. The free Stop the Bleed training equips Tavern League members with the hands-on skills needed to manage life-threatening in juries until professional help arrives. Whether it’s a serious knife slip during a Saturday night rush or a sudden accident while you're at home with family, these techniques are as practical in your personal life as they are behind the bar. Investing a short amount of time in this session empowers you and your staff to act with confidence, potentially saving a life in a moment of crisis. It is a no-cost way to protect your employees, your patrons, and your loved ones alike. Being prepared is simply part of being a leader in your community, proving that safety remains your top priority long after the last call.
The class would be approximately one hour long – depending on the number of people attending. We would have a brief PowerPoint session followed by a hands-on training portion. It’s not a gory class, there’s zero actual blood, and you’ll practice your skills on synthetic practice “limbs.” This class is a “how to” class – focusing on applying pres sure and tourniquet use.
