Stop Motion Animation Intensive - For Kids!

For first-time and returning animators: learn stop motion basics, bring a character to life, and create a short video to take home.

Join animator and teaching artist Lyss Lentini for a hands-on Stop-Motion Animation Intensive for kids. In this three-hour workshop, participants will explore the principles of animation while creating their own stop-motion walk cycle, the technique that makes characters appear to walk in a seamless loop.

Participants are welcome to bring their own figures, such as LEGOs, action figures, or small toys, or use our modeling clay to build original characters. Using a professional camera setup and Dragonframe stop-motion animation software, students will bring their creations to life frame by frame.

Whether they are brand-new to stop-motion or already love making videos, this workshop offers a welcoming, creative space to experiment, collaborate, and build animation skills.

Lyss Lentini doesn’t believe in being just one thing. As an animator, they have worked in virtually every medium that they have access to. They find inspiration in work that pushes the boundaries of a medium or makes the most out of little resources. Over the years, they have fallen deeply in love with stop motion, 2D animation, 3D animation, and editing. Finding inspiration in the tool is important to their work.
