Author and teacher Elizabeth Barber will talk about her novel ‘Stone Arrows’. This book is set in 7000 BCE around the middle of the Mesolithic period of hunter-gatherers and it is studied in primary schools as part of the History KS2 national curriculum. The story is aimed at eight to twelve-year-olds. Based on careful research, it paints a picture of how life was lived in those far-off times – the terrain, the wild animals, the clothing and the sights and smells. Elizabeth will bring along the flint scraper that was the inspiration for her story as well as a set of red deer antlers. The talk is aimed at primary school children but everyone is welcome and there will be a short, fun, non-obligatory exercise to encourage children with their own writing.
Free event but the author will have her books to sign and sell. No need to book. This session immediately follows our regular rhyme and storytime.
