Stokes State forest hiking (Drive only)

This is free event! Only heavy rain can stop us!

Ready to hike verticals? It's time for New Jersey. This time we will go to Stokes State forest to hike another part of the Appalachian Trail. We will pass

through gorgeous lakes, rivers and waterfalls.

We will stop for lunch by the fire tower and visit Stony Brook falls on the way back. If we have enough time we will visit Buttermilk falls as well.

This will be mostly a loop hike.

Preliminary plan:

10:00 AM meeting at Tillman upper parking lot.

10:20 AM Visiting Tillman Ravine.

10:45 AM Joining the Appalachian trail.

11:30 AM arriving at Owassa, Kittatinny and Culver lakes.

12:30 PM Arriving at Culver Fire tower.

12:40 PM Lunch time.

01:10 PM coming back to the Appalachian trail.

02:10 PM Arriving at Sunrise mountain.

03:00 PM Passing the Steam Mill campground.

03:40 PM Passing Wapalanne lake.

04:10 PM Arriving at Stony Brook falls and lake.

05:20 PM Passing 3 lakes again.

06:00 PM Arriving at the parking lot and driving back home.

If we will have enough time we will have a dinner together

**** HOW TO GET THERE and BACK ***

Unless you are going to drive it will be too hard to get there on time by public transport. Please ask the group as many people will drive from NY or

NJ and can carpool.

If you choose to travel by bus or train please take in consideration that we group will not be able to wait, you have to come ON TIME!

About 16 miles hike (expect for full day)

Total elevation: 2300ft

Please keep the above into consideration as this event is not for rookies.

Walkie-talkie: our frequency: 462.6125 or 462.6375 (Channel 3 and 4)

Please bring enough water and food for 6 hours.

We do not recommend you to swim at lakes and rivers.
