Join RIBA Learning as we celebrate a year of Stitching Time at NLA's London Centre. Be inspired by the models of London and add to the growing, travelling embroidery of communal stitching. Come along to meet new people or chat to an old friend, while you stitch shapes, words, patterns or drawings with thread. Contribute to an ever-evolving artwork that represents the people, places and the conversations that unfold whilst RIBA Learning runs workshops across London.
For all ages, under 18’s must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is advised.
Stitching Time is a travelling project that will visit several venues over the 3-year refurbishment of the RIBA’s HQ building. RIBA Learning will ‘take the sew on the road’ to engage with the public and build a community of stitchers and contributors.
About the workshop facilitators
The workshop leaders are Lil Adams and Edie Parfitt from RIBA Learning. Lil is an artist, jeweller and educator, her sewing has been exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition multiple times and as part of immersive exhibitions with TRACES. Edie is an architectural designer with an interest in sustainability and collective learning. The RIBA Learning programme provides exciting opportunities for everyone to explore, question and celebrate architecture.
The London Centre
Home of NLA, the membership organisation for London’s built environment sector, and located in the West Wing of the Guildhall complex, the Centre highlights the people, places and buildings that make London a world class city.
The Centre brings together the public, politicians, and young people as well as London’s stakeholders, senior decision makers, and Civic leaders from all over the world - opening in partnership with the City of London Corporation in support of its ‘Destination City’ strategy to attract more people into the Square Mile.
They focus on a range of issues that impact the built environment alongside the New London Model and the City Model. As a central hub for NLA, the Centre is a place for networking, private and public events, debates, think tanks, and discussions about London and beyond.
