Discover the Still during an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience! Each Still Uncovered Tour begins with a 60-minute guided exploration of the building and galleries, focusing on Still’s work, the architecture, and the unique nature of the collection and the Museum. The second portion invites guests to engage with specialized staff in secure Museum spaces not open to the public.
During the November tour, visit the Conservation Lab to hear from members of the conservation team about the practical research projects they conduct to characterize paint surfaces and how they change. Learn how the team researches materials and uses photography to better understand the paintings’ surfaces. Find out how this research directly relates to the ongoing conservation treatment of Clyfford Still’s PH-1026. This painting appeared partially treated in Spotlight: Inside Collections Care and Conservation and will be shown fully treated in the upcoming exhibition "Tools of the Trade: A Lifetime of Materials and Techniques" in 2027.
Still Uncovered Tours provide unique opportunities for guests to engage deeply with both the public and private sides of the Museum. Tours are limited to 10 people and require registration. Tours are available from 3–4:30 p.m. on the 2nd Friday of each month and open to visitors 13 and older.
