Creativity Shell partners with Houston Dash to host a unique “Still Life Summer 2024” art show for youth artists.
Nonprofit organization, the Creativity Shell has partnered with MLB Soccer organization the Houston Dash to host a unique “Still Life Summer” art show on Friday, August 23, 2024 at Shell Energy Stadium for youth artists.
Founded in Houston in 2015, the Creativity Shell has been on a mission to use creative arts/trades programs to educate and inspire the next generation of makers. The organization teaches classes such as sewing, textile arts, cooking, drawing, painting ceramics, STEM, and other creative trades to students in our studios, libraries, schools, ABA therapy centers, the juvenile justice system as well as shelters that rescue unhoused youths and human trafficking survivors.
For Summer 2024, the organization has published a unique “Still Life Summer 2024” book (https://www.amazon.com/Still-Life-Summer-Shelancia-Daniel) that will give youth artists the opportunity to have their own published book by the end of Summer 2024. Students are encouraged to use their Still Life Books to draw different prompts of still life art by using visuals from local businesses, parks, travel expeditions and more.
“There are a lot of parents looking for something to do with their kids during the summer time.” says Shelancia Danie, founder and executive director of the Creativity Shell. “When we were thinking of outside the box ways to keep children engaged and creative this summer, we thought this book would be a fun and exciting opportunity for them.”
Youth artists are encouraged to choose their favorite still life image to display at the art show on 08/23/24. Images can be photographs, paintings, drawings or 3D, but cannot be larger than an 8x10” frame.
