Still Life - Four-Part Class Series
Advertisement
Students will learn to draw from life using gesture, contour, measurement, and light and shadow. Through careful observation, students will explore how to capture movement, structure, proportion, and form while developing their own personal style.
Classes will include drapery, organic objects, and man-made objects. Students will learn to slow down, look closely, and use drawing as both a technical and meditative practice.
Class 1: Gesture and Contour
Students will practice quick gesture drawings and slower contour exercises to capture movement, line, structure, and form.
Class 2: Light and Shadow
Students will review gesture and contour, then learn how to render highlights, shadows, reflected light, and cast shadows to create depth.
Class 3: Negative Space and Measurement
Students will study proportion, placement, positive and negative space, plumb lines, and comparative angles to improve accuracy and composition.
Class 4: Artist’s Choice
Students will combine the techniques learned in previous classes and create final pieces that reflect their individual strengths, style, and artistic choices.
