𝗙𝗥 — Natural Constant Lab (NCL) propose Still Here, une nouvelle marche avec la ZSenne* à partir de paysages sonores et d'histoires qui témoignent des flux de la rivière. Parfois invisible et souterrain, le cours de la ZSenne est cependant impossible à démêler de Bruxelles, de son histoire et de celle de ses habitant·es.
𝗡𝗟 — Al drie jaar lang organiseert Natural Contract Lab (NCL) zijn walking-withs*, waarin deelnemers meelopen met de Zenne en haar gemeenschappen van mensen, vissen, bomen en klei. Ze doen dit om de band met het landschap te versterken en aandacht te vragen voor de rechten van de rivier.

𝗘𝗡 — For three years, Natural Contract Lab (NCL) has been walking with* the SZenne and its communities of people, fish, trees and living clay. They do this to strengthen their connection to the landscape and call attention to the rights of the river.

𝗙𝗥 — Depuis trois ans, Natural Contract Lab (NCL) marche avec la Senne et tisse un fil qui lie la rivière et ses communautés en un écosystème indissociable: les personnes, les poissons, les arbres, l'argile vivante. Une marche avec, c'est un conte interactif et dynamique qui fait appel à l'imagination, où échanger ses souvenirs, ses expériences, faire son deuil. Chacune de ces rencontres mobiles est liée à un endroit particulier le long de la ZSenne, depuis sa source à Naast jusqu'au Zennegat à Malines où elle se jette dans la Dyle. Au rythme de l'eau, ces marches créent des espaces de convivialité et d'entraide où se réfléchissent de nouveaux et de meilleurs moyens de prendre soin de la rivière qui a subi de nombreux dégâts écologiques. Une alliance nait, à même de prendre soin des écosystèmes liés à la ZSenne et redonner ses droits à la rivière.

𝗡𝗟 — NCL weeft een rode draad doorheen de verhalen en herinneringen van de Zenne en haar bewoners en verbindt zo alles tot één ecosysteem. In de afgelopen maanden liep NCL mee met de rivier van haar bron in Naast tot aan het Zennegat in Mechelen. Er ontstond plaats voor samenhorigheid en zorg, op het ritme van het water en het omringende land. In de volgende walking-with gebruikt het lab soundscapes en verhalen die getuigen van de stroming van de Zenne: soms onzichtbaar en ondergronds, maar altijd uniek en onlosmakelijk Brussels. Zo hoopt de groep de natuurlijke loop van de Zenne te herstellen.

*Walking-with is de kunst van het oplopen met. Het is een plaatsgebonden conversatie, een interactief en dynamisch verhaal dat de zintuigen en verbeelding prikkelt, een uitwisseling van herinneringen, ervaringen en gedeeld verdriet. De deelnemers willen luisteren naar het water, maar ook nadenken over nieuwe en betere zorgsystemen voor de rivier, die veel ecologische schade heeft geleden. Zo smeden de wandelbijeenkomsten een zorgalliantie voor de Zenne die de rechten van de rivier en haar biodiverse bewoners wil verankeren in een leefwet.

𝗘𝗡 — NCL weaves a thread through the histories and memories of the SZenne and its inhabitants, connecting everything into one inseparable ecosystem. In recent months, NCL walked with the river from its source in Naast to the Zennegat in Mechelen. Following the rhythms of the water and the surrounding land, the participants created space for togetherness and mutual care. In the next walking-with, the lab will use soundscapes and stories that bear witness to the communal flow of the SZenne: sometimes invisible and underground, but always unique and inextricably linked to Brussels. In this way, the group hopes to restore the river to its rightful and natural course.

*What exactly is the art of walking-with? Walking-with is a site-specific conversation, an interactive and dynamic tale that engages the senses and the imagination, an ongoing exchange of memories, experiences and shared grief. The participants want to listen to the water, but also think about new and improved ways of caring for the river, which has suffered much ecological damage. As such, these mobile gatherings aim to forge a care alliance for the SZenne that enshrines the rights of the river and its biodiverse populations into a living law.

From Cinemaximiliaan to the Kaaitheater, from Recyclart and the École Cirque to Charleroi Danse, from the Vaartkapoen and Decoratelier to UP – Circus & Performing Arts and Ultima Vez: they will all be there (with bells on), rubbing shoulders with the many well- and lesser-known artists and organisations from Molenbeek. Let’s make Molenbeek the cultural capital of Europe in 2030!
