STIFF DRINKS: Ghoul of Richmond Lecture & HORROR MOVIE TRIVIA

JOINS US for the inaugural get-together of STIFF DRINKS : a spirited community gathering, focused on exploring themes related to the history of cemeteries, mortality, funerary customs, and all things, well…dead.
Moving forward, STIFF DRINKS will alternate between online and in-person programming and include a variety of scholarly, accessible, and respectful public dialogues: including informal lectures, activities, charitable events, and more. Think of it as an inclusive community for taphophiles by taphophiles!! Come get the dirt on topics like human composting, local graveyard history, cemetery symbolism, cadavers, true crime, grave robbing, necrophilia - and more!
The first STIFF DRINKS community gathering will be on Wednesday, MARCH 18 from 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM at Strangelove's in Center City, Philadelphia and feature the lecture: THE GHOUL OF RICHMOND: A TALE OF NIGHT DOCTORS, MEDICAL SCHOOL JANITORS, AND GRAVE ROBBING IN JIM CROW ERA VIRGINIA. This informal image-centric lecture focuses on one of the most infamous and prolific grave robbers in American history. It’s a gruesome and heartbreaking tale that will take us from the neglected cemeteries of Philly all the way to the flesh pits of Richmond’s Medical College of Virginia.
FOLLOWING THE LECTURE: We'll switch from real life horrors to those of the cinema, and run a few rounds of our celebrated HORROR MOVIE TRIVIA. TOP THREE TEAMS TAKE HOME PRIZES!! Guaranteed to be the most challenging horror trivia in Philly!!
