About this Event
“A magnificent film!”
— Robert Stanton, former National Park Service director
This film captures the inspiring story of former Secretary of the Interior Stewart Udall
(1920-2010) and his legacy as an advocate of racial and environmental justice,
international diplomacy, the arts and culture, and, most of all, the protection of our
shared environment and its magnificent natural beauty. The story highlights the bi-
partisan nature of Udall’s efforts and calls on us to move beyond the polarization of our
time and work together to protect our shared natural heritage.
Under Udall’s watch, more units were added to our national park system than under any
other Interior secretary in history. They include Redwood National Park and our nearby
Point Reyes National Seashore.
The 78-minute film will be followed by brief remarks by film director John de Graaf, Stewart Udall’s
son Denis, and David Brower’s son Ken (both appear in the film), along with an
opportunity for questions and comments.
Please join us on Tuesday, February 14, for this celebration of Stewart Udall’s remarkable
life and service. Yes, we know it’s Valentine’s Day, so bring yourself or someone special!
