These works include Varese’s Déserts from 1950, a rarely performed composition that combines electronic sounds with an orchestra of winds, piano, and percussion, and George Lewis’s Soundlines, a tour-de-force work written for sinfonietta ensemble, percussion, and electronics. Also included on the concert is Takemitsu’s Rain Coming and Vivian Fung’s The Ice is Talking.
