Yacht Club Daredevils Show with Steve Williams, Wil Nance and Supe Granda
Steve Williams- Singer Songwriter-
St. Louis native Steve Williams has played music professionally since the young age of fourteen, but it was his move Nashville in 1995 to pursue a career as a songwriter, that changed his life. His talents were quickly recognized and soon after relocating, he signed with MALACO music publishing.
Steve Williams’ song, “Where Have I Been All My Life” was featured on George Strait’s album, “TWANG” (2009 release) and has been heralded as one of the most poignant songs of Strait’s career. His summer fun song, “Redneck Yacht Club” went to #1 in 2005, spawning the popular website www.redneckyachtclub.com. Bucky Covington’s 2010 release, “A Fathers Love (The Only Way He Knew How)” another Williams’ write, received rave reviews, with country radio quoted as saying, “It’s Bucky’s best yet!” The Oak Ridge Boys cut his song, “What’cha Gonna Do” and the video made a huge splash on YouTube. Other successes include; “I Get To”, which flew to #1 on the Christian Music Charts and has been recorded by several artists, and “I Didn’t”, recorded by Trick Pony.
Steve is also a staff songwriter for Operation Song (OperationSong.org) writing with veterans with PTSD and/or extraordinary survival stories helping them heal from difficult experiences. His song set to video, “Good Co-Pilot” (written with 93 year old Richard Stroud, a world war 2 and Korean War Vet & Navy pilot) is up for an award with the San Diego Film Festival. For more on this and other songs, go to OperationSong.org.
As a solo performer, Steve captivates audiences with his talent and powerful songs that make you feel the full extent of emotions. He’s also performed as a band member of Kenny Chesney, Little Big Town, Tanya Tucker’s group as well as several others. In 1999, Wil received a BMI award for “Round About Way,” a #1 hit single for George Strait. It has also landed on other George Strait albums, such as; George Strait’s Latest Greatest Hits, and George Strait’s 50 Number Ones … Over seven million sales and counting.
Then in 2004, Wil received another BMI Award for his Joe Nichols single “Cool To Be A Fool”.
Other recent cuts include; the Blue County single “I Get To”, Tracy Lawrence's “Your’e Why God Made Me” and “Just Like Her,”, Joe Nichols' “Honky Tonk Girl,” Lyric Street Artist Lisa Shaffer “I Know I Love You” and “Sittin’ On Top Of The World,” as well as other major and independent label cuts.
Some of his past songwriting credits include; “You Are”, a John Michael Montgomery single, “Next To Nothin,’” a Gene Watson single, cuts on Neal McCoy “Same Boots,” Craig Morgan “Everything’s A Thing,” “It’s Me,” “What You Do To Me,” Mchayes' “Mr. Right Now,” Diamond Rio “Big Time Lonesome,” and many others.
Supe Granda-
Before moving to the Ozarks in 1969, Supe had already been a bandleader for five years in his hometown of St. Louis. Though his first rock-n-roll excursion never made a huge splash, it did include a gig at St. Louis’ famed Gaslight Square. Upon his relocation to Springfield, Missouri he became a co-founder of The Ozark Mountain Daredevils in 1971, and has spent every day since their inception as bassist, singer, songwriter, and resident jokester. Over this same time span his voracious appetite for "all things music” has spun him into numerous side projects. Those projects include several bands such as Supe & the Sandwiches, The Garbonzos, and Silly Grandpa, among others. He also maintains his own record label and publishing company called Missouri Mule Music.
Since co-founding the Dares, Supe has flourished as a songwriter, landing cuts by Chet Atkins, Walter Egan, Augie Meyers, and Billy Bremner of the band Rockpile, as well as numerous tracks on regional artists’ projects. He is author and publisher of the book titled It Shined: The Saga of the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, a reflection and history of the band from its early beginnings.
Supe now lives in Nashville where he continues to pursue his very active career as artist, musician, and writer. He can be found on Facebook as Michael Supe Granda or you can keep up with Supe at www.supeline.com!
