STEVE PEMBERTON is best known as an actor and a writer, particularly for The League of Gentlemen and Inside No.9. His notable TV appearances also include Benidorm, Psychoville, which also starred his long-term collaborator Reece Shearsmith, Whitechapel and the first series of Happy Valley.
The League of Gentlemen began as a stage act, with its team first appearing live at Brighton's Komedia in 1995, before going to BBC Radio 4. The popular and acclaimed TV series began in 1999. Inside No.9, the anthology series for the BBC, which he created, wrote and starred in with Reece Shearsmith, ran for 55 episodes from 2014 to 2024. A variety of other onscreen roles were in series' such as Worzel Gummidge, Killing Eve, Shameless, The Life and Death of Peter Sellers and the musical comedy drama Blackpool. Steve also starred in two episodes of Doctor Who in 2008. Between 2007 and 2015, he appeared in over 40 episodes of the ITV comedy Benidorm. Recently, he played Rupert Murdoch in the ITV series on tabloid phone-hacking, The Hack. Steve has performed in theatre productions such as Art, The Rocky Horror Show, as the narrator, and The Pillowman. He has won two Royal Television Society awards, a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award and four BAFTAs.
JOHN LLOYD is a highly respected television producer, responsible for some of the most popular and successful comedy series' of the last forty-five years. From the mid-seventies, he worked in radio production at the BBC, creating shows such as The News Quiz and The News Huddlines. His friendship with Douglas Adams, the creator of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, led to John co-writing two episodes of the radio series. He went on to produce the television version, which began broadcasting in January 1981. The satirical TV sketch show Not the Nine o'clock News, from 1979, was a major success for John, which he created and co-produced. It introduced viewers to the likes of Mel Smith, Griff Rhys Jones, Pamela Stephenson and Rowan Atkinson, who later played the lead in four series' of Blackadder, also produced by John. It went on to become among the most popular TV comedies of all time, especially of the eighties. That decade also saw him producing the puppet-based ITV satire, Spitting Image. John is also known for creating and producing QI, which began in 2003.
