Inviting you to a laid back folk music concert in a coffeehouse setting, 8 p.m.- 10 p.m., Friday, November 8th in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul's UMC, 4014 Garden Drive, Knox TN 37918. We represent a throwback to the Sixties and early Seventies coffe house culture, minus the berets and the finger snapping. Folk music was just an earlier version of what we now call Americana. The concert features Steve Horton on vocals and guitar, Don Wood, founding member of the Tennessee Sheiks, on guitar, mandolin, and lap steel and JP Reddick, a founding member of Y'uns Jugband and long time associate of the Mumbillies on guitar and vocals. We'll be playing songs from a wide variety of American songwriters: Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, John Prine, Jesse Winchester, Paul Simon, Fats Waller, and Steve Goodman. And also featuring some older blues tunes from the Mississippi Sheiks and Jesse "Lone Cat" Fuller and some of our own originals. Free admission but we have a Big Tip Jar!IMPORTANT NOTE: As you approach the church, go past the front parking lot and take a right turn...that will lead you to the rear of the church where you will find plenty of parking and a door marked with the "Fellowship Hall" sign. Hope to see y'all there!
