Co-commissioned by the Lincoln Center and inspired by theFreedom Melody Festival’s fight against apartheid, Freedom Melody promises tobe an evening of cultural intersection, strength, creativity, and unity.
Joined by his dynamic quartet, Steve Dyer revisits defining moments from 1985 Freedom Melody Festival in Gaborone, Botswana–an event filled with hope and resilience in the face of apartheid.Freedom Melody blends vibrant jazz and stirring vocals with stories of liberation to share a musical message rooted in African heritage and reaching toward a more connected, just world.
