In the course of his performance career, Steve Cormier has made his name as a rodeo rider, a ranch hand, a folk festival headliner, a big screen actor, and a college-based folk scholar! He’ll be performing along with a small posse of occasional, 2nd-set, musical sidekicks, including McLeansville's Darrell Cobb on campfire banjo, Greensboro's David Thompson on bunk-house bass, Hillsborough’s Jane Davis on full-moon fiddle, and Mebane’s Larry Vellani on saddle-tramp guitar.A singer / song-writer / story-teller and knower-of-all-things-cowhand & unfiltered, real-life, prairie & western working-class history, Steve Cormier ... Steve definitely NOT your grandparent's understanding of Manifest Destiny!
Steve is also a longtime member of and a contributor to an international on-line music performing collecting and scholarly research community called The Mudcat Cafe. Several active, Alamance-Orange County members of Mudcat helped bring Steve to our area in 2016, performing in a house concert in West Hillsborough. The late musician and raconteur Amos Jessup (1946-2019) of Hillsborough had scheduled Steve to perform in his beautiful "Old Depot House" on South Hillsborough Avenue in Hillsborough in 2019. As it turns out, Mother Nature had other plans for Amos. Some desires are timeless and, at last, we’re privileged to honor Amos’ friendship and legacy, and Steve’s unique talent on May 3rd at the Eno House!
