Steve Boutilier: "Kind, Not Nice" | Live Comedy Special Taping

I’ve been living in Mexico City for a bit, but I’m heading back to Halifax to record my first 30-minute stand-up special, "Kind, Not Nice." I wanted to shoot this somewhere that actually feels like home, so we're setting up at Gus's Pub for a one-night pop-up show.

Because we are recording video and audio, we are capping the room at strictly 50 tickets. For a comedy tape, you need the room tight, packed, and loud so the laughs actually translate on camera. Once these 50 tickets are gone, they are completely gone. If we sell out online, there will be no walk-ups at the door.

THE LINEUP: I’m bringing a crew of local Halifax favorites to warm up the room before I hit the stage:

• Host: Sarah MacLellan – Sarah is a Halifax-based standup comedian and producer known for her candid, self-aware comedy. A regular at Yuk Yuk's and the Halifax Live Comedy Club, she also hosted over 250 episodes of the beloved InTalksicated Podcast and co-created the live comedy show More Than The Tip.
• Featuring: Alva Sparkles – Alva is like a scoop of moon mist ice-cream that became sentient and turned out to be a little pervy. You may have seen this two-time award-losing comedian at Yuk Yuk's, Lunenburg Pride, or handing your grandmother a toy at bingo.
• Featuring: Stu Anthony – Dartmouth’s own alchemical master of laughs. He’s opened for Jon Dore and Mike Lynch, and you can find him weekly hosting Pint Sized Comedy’s Open Mic at Celtic Corner.
