Artist’s Statement
My theme for the small mixed media pieces is A Study of Nature and Academic Disciplines. Art teaches us what it means to be human and embodies all academic disciplines. I always imbed math, science, history, and language arts in my art lessons and artworks. It occurs naturally. Those disciplines share the same processes and vocabulary with art. My 6" x 6" mixed media pieces are an exploration of these connections. They are paintings and gelle prints covered with vintage math and science overhead transparencies. My love affair with paint you will experience in my larger abstract paintings. Color, texture, and pattern delight my soul, as well as presenting transparent layers, creating and revealing what is hidden.
