About this Event

Participants will learn about teaching Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) in the after school classroom. They will be given opportunities to see how inquiry-based science and student directed learning is beneficial in the classroom. Participants will be shown how to use open-ended questions appropriately when facilitating a STEM activity.

Learning Objectives:

-Participants will learn how to implement a STEM activity (or learning unit) in an after school classroom.

-Participants will be able to use open-ended questions effectively when implementing a STEM activity in an OST classroom.

-Participants will learn how to categorize STEM activities as introductory, exploratory, or culminating.

NAA Skills and Core Competencies:

-Physical, Social/Emotional, and Cognitive Development

Directions: Our center is in a large multi-story building. When you enter the lobby, you can let the attendant know you are here to attend a training on the 6th floor.
